Four Pieces for Solo Piano - Sheet Music

$15.00

Four Pieces for Solo Piano were written over a fifteen year span but all deal with these ideas of the night. “The Wandering Soul” is a mournful prayer written in memory of my grandfather, “A Bedtime Dance for Emmons” was written for my nephew as a way to help him find sleep, a surreal dream about chopping wood lead to “A Hatchet in a Stump,” and “Nocturne” is a celebration of gazing into the nightly heavens.

18 pages - run time approx. 15 minutes

What wildly different experiences might a soul have in the night? The night can be a time for sleeping, for dreaming, for nightmares, or for laying awake with thoughts drifting to those whom we have lost; seemingly wandering in the dark. The night may be a time for dancing and unbridled energy, though not everyone around us may be so enthused. No matter our feelings, the night is always the time of starlight, that most precious and mysterious celestial visage that reminds those who look up to contemplate the vastness of the universe.
