Old Machines: Duo for Violin and Cello
In my imagination, the old machines - a loom, a tractor plow, and a timepiece, sit dust-covered in an old barn. The holes between the barn slats are just enough to cast the last rays of the fading summer sunlight over each machine, and for a moment each one relives its days of magnificence. The loom, weaving and binding warps and thread, the plow breaking ground on the farmers hopes and the time peace, tightly wound, moving future into present into past with every tick. But here, in the barn, collecting dust, and the last of the summer sun, these old machines, rest, or rust, and remember or forget.
